If someone went to a seminary, then that person is an ex-seminarian. Calling someone a "former seminarian" to differentiate them from an ex-seminarian is a distinction without a difference.

Named cardinal, 1985.Resigned in disgrace 2002 after his involvement in the clergy sexual abuse scandal in Boston. Promptly appointed to a high position in the Vatican by John Paul II

Born in Gori, Georgia. Seminarian at Tbilisi Theological Seminary.

Premier of Soviet Union. Nototious mass murderer.
